Pharmacode / PZN / Code 32 Generator

Three barcodes that only exist because of the pharmacy trade. Pharmacode is a tiny code of thick and thin bars read by packaging machines to check the right leaflet or carton is in the right box. PZN is the German national drug number, printed as a Code 39 with a dash in front. Code 32 is the Italian drug number, also drawn as Code 39.

Pharmacode has no check digit, so a wrong number looks fine: double check the value. Pharmacode needs a high contrast and a clean quiet space on both sides. For the logistics side of medicines see GS1-128 and Data Matrix; the PZN and Code 32 check digits are explained on the check digit page.

Pharmacode: a whole number from 3 to 131070. PZN: 6 or 7 digits (check digit added) or 8 digits with check digit. Code 32: 8 digits (check digit added) or 9 with it.
