Postal Barcode Generator
Post offices sort mail with machines that read 4-state barcodes: rows of bars that point up, down, both or neither. Each country has its own version. This page draws the ones for the USA, the UK, the Netherlands, Australia and Japan.
These codes follow the official bar layouts, but a postal service only accepts them when the data is right (a registered mailer ID for IMb, a real DPID for Australia Post) and the size and print quality match its rules. Use this for testing, design mock-ups and short runs, and ask your post office for the exact size. For general parcel and pallet labels use GS1-128 / SSCC or Code 128. The old US ZIP bars (PostNet) are in the barcode generator.
